Nikki Sivils & The Twinery = Fabulous Projects!!

Hey there everyone, how fun is this???? Nikki Sivils & The Twinery team up for some fabulous creations!!! I simply LOVE both so this was a perfect project swap for me.

You can check out both the Nikki Sivils blog

and The Twinery blog

The Twinery blog for 2 days worth of creative inspiration. Make sure you leave some love as there will be prizes from both companies!

The Twinery is giving away a sampler pack :)

Nikki is giving away a collection kit one for each of the two days!! So get those comments going ladies!!!

Now for my project. I used the new Exit Here line along with the North Pole Nights album. It's perfect for photos that I know we will take this summer at the camper...my mini is ready to go, just add pics :):)

So let's start with the cover...

On the binder rings I thought it would be fun to tie the twine all the way around, and also use it along with the banner.

and here we go...the inside!!

I used Helmar 450 glue to adhere the twine around the post....worked like a charm!

Supplies used: Nikki Sivils Exit Here line & burlap buttons. The Twinery twine (Peapod, Cappuccino, Buttercream, Shore), Xyron adhesive & Helmar 450.

Thanks for stopping by, make sure you hop on over to Nikki Sivils's blog & The Twinery to see what all of the designers have been creating.

PDCC 125} A Splash of Color

Hey fellow bloggers, it's time for the new color challenge this week at The Play Date Cafe! You are going to love the colors this week along with all of the inspiration from the design team.

So check out these colors....

Julie our fearless leader is gathing a prize for this weeks winner, so hop on over to The Play Date Cafe and see what's up for grabs!

Now my take on this challenge. I created a card using the new Echo Park Note To Self line. Simply the perfect line for this week's colors. Notice my fancy bow :):) I finally tried it. I created this bow using seam binding. Fellow DT member Jinny always has these beautiful bows on her cards, she has a tutorial up on her blog so I gave it a try. I have to say not to bad for the first shot :)

Thanks so much for stopping by today, have a wonderful day!

Having Fun Creating Art

Well today I had lots of fun creating art, and now that my hands are scrubbed back to somewhat of a normal color it's time to share. This week I have taken a little, just a little break, from my usual mini album routine. As most of you know I LOVE to create mini albums :) This week i've been playing with lots of ink, stains, mists, and art parts....I have been having a BLAST!!

Last night I came across a design team call for a company called GlobeCRAFT Memories. I went to the blog and feel in love with the projects. I thought to myself I think this is right up my alley!! I love to try new things and techniques and this looks like so much fun. So today i'm sharing with you one of my projects that i'm submitting to the call.

First up I gathered all of my supplies and spread them out on my counter. Narrowing down colors was a little hard. So here are the colors I picked for my inks and stains: Vintage Photo, Pumice,Broken China, Spiced Marmalade. Colorwash/Mists: Butterscotch, Bell Bottom Jeans, Biscotti. I also used a little bit of crackle paint. For the base of my project I used a mixture of Art Parts by Wendy Vecchi.

Here is how I created this piece of art...which is totally my own. That is the wonderful thing about creating, it is how YOU want to make it...there is no right or wrong way to create it!!!

Stain and misting the gears. This process is super quick and easy. Take you color of mist and spray over one of the gears. I used a heat gun to speed up the drying process.

For the bigger gear I used distress stain all over first, then inked the gear with Broken China & Vintage Photo to give it a different look then the misted gear.

For the base of this I did a little experimenting! I started by using distress stain first. I wanted to add multiple colors so I started inking here and there. I wasn't happy with the colors so I misted it with Perfect Pearls Mist Biscotti to add a little sparkle. That was just what it needed, I loved it!!

Now for the top "frame" part. I started this process by staining again, then went a totally different direction....CRACKLE PAINT!!! If I had time I would have let it sit and dry overnight, but since I wanted to get this done today I used a heat gun to speed this up!

Once this was done I wanted to add puddles, yes puddles of distress stains. I grabbed Broken China, Pumice, and Vintage Photo and began pooling it over the piece. Once this was done I heat set it again to dry the stain.

To create the inner piece of the frame, I simply inked that part and using Black Archival ink stamped the saying.

Ok so now that the hard but fun work is done it's time to put it all together. For this I used Beacon 3-in-1 glue. I started by gluing the frame down on the base piece. Arranged the gears how I wanted them and glued them down next, also adding the metal Idea-ology gears on top. Adding the fun hand on the lower left next. The stamp on the hand was an after thought, so I stamped that once it was all together.

Here is my finished project, the perfect artsy addition to my scrap studio.

A close up of the saying...

Thanks so much for stopping by today, hope you enjoyed my piece of art today! For all of you local girls you can grab all of these goodies at The Scrapbooking Studio.

The die cut sheet had those super cute banners along the top of the card. There are so many fun elements to cut out...it's just amazing! Notice that cute little brown burlap button. I did a little inking of the edges, popped up the little hearts and used a Maya Road stick pin behind the heart.
